The black raspberries are coming on fast so I spent 2 hours this morning ‘foraging’ them. I put foraging in quotes because it’s not that hard to do – simply take a walk, look around and pick the ripe ones. It was hot, sticky and I’m hopeful I don’t wind up with more poison ivy! I did look before stepping and reaching but the weeds are thicker than ever now.
After I finished and saw the yield, I knew I needed to surprise J with something yummy!
It felt auspicious as I made pie that my grandma always used to make for me on my birthday!
I adapted this recipe by Paula Deen. It turned out great too!
